Hallo zusammen, nach etwas mehr wie 25 Stunden sind wir wohlbehalten aber gut durchgeschüttelt in Tumlingtar angekommen.
Die Fahrt war, wie so oft in Nepal, abenteuerlich! Nach einem gemütlichen ersten Teil auf gut ausgebauten Strassen, wurde es ziemlich holperig bis nahe der indischen Grenze. Danach gings steil und verhältnismässig ruhig bergauf. Danach wurde es wieder mächtig unruhig bei mehr Löchern als Asphalt. Bei dieser Tortur ist ein Reifen kaputt gegangen, also schnell das Rad gewechselt und weiter ging es. Ganz am Schluss war die Strasse wieder super, aber es war mächtig heiss im Bus. 36 Grad...da kommt man ganz schön ins Schwitzen. Zum Mittagessen gab es Momos (Nepalesische Teigtaschen -> siehe Fotos) und Nudeln. Die letzten paar Kilometer war die Luft im Reserverad auch schon wieder halb raus, naja halbvoll oder halbleer ist anscheinend keine Frage...vermutlich wäre bei den Jungs hier auch ein Reifen mit einem Viertel Luft noch ein Viertel voll.
Nun sind wir am Umladen vom Bus auf die Jeeps. Diese bringen uns nach Num, wo die Sherpas schon warten. Num ist etwas weiter als unser ursprünglich geplantes Ziel, damit wir wieder etwas der "verlorenen" Strecke aufholen. Um ca. 21 Uhr lokaler Zeit sollten wir dort ankommen und endlich wieder mal ohne Geschüttel schlafen können.
Hi everybody, after a bit more than 25 hours we reached Tumlingtar well but well shaken.
The drive was adventurous, as almost always in Nepal! After a relaxing and calm first part on broad and well paved roads, it started to get rather bumpy towards the Indian border. Then it got steep but relatively comfortable up hill. Thereafter there were more ditches then tarmac and it was extremly shaky. This led to a flat tyre, so a quick wheel change and off we went again. Towards the end of the trip, the road was almost perfect, but it was boiling hot in the bus. 36 degree centigrade ...makes you sweat just a bit. We had momos (nepalese steamed buns -> see pictures) and noodles for lunch. The last couple kilometers we lost half of the air in the sparetyre, but it seems that halffull or halfempty isn't really a question...probably even a tyre filled with only a quarter of air would still be a quarter full for these guys here.
We're shifting baggage from the bus to the jeeps now. They will take us to Num, where the Sherpas are already waiting. Num is located a bit further than the original destination of the jeep ride, to catch up some of the "lost" time and way. At approx. 9 p.m. local time we should arrive there and we'll finally be able to sleep a night without all the shaking.
